Frank was born one bright summer night
His mother was a banker his father took flight
When Frank was young they said he wasn’t bright
So he pulled a gun on them out of pure spite
Frank walked away from his home that day
He walked to the town over by the bay
That boy walked into the bar and said hey
He challenged them to cards and he sat down to play
Frank played cards until the sun rose
He took his winnings and slept in his clothes
For the next two weeks he kept playing those
Cards, and his winning never slowed
Frank left town a millionaire
He carried his money through the cold fall air
Back in town the losers gathered in the square
And they hatched a plan to get their
Money back
Now Frank is on the run
From a mob on the hunt
He had his fun
And now they want retribution
All his newfound wealth
Won’t save him from himself
Any atonement will be too late
Will he be able to escape his fate?

Eye of Destruction
03:05
|
|||
Eye of destruction
Eye of the storm
Seems like everything
Is outside the norm
Eye of destruction
Eye of despair
Maybe there’s something
That’s waiting out there
Eye of destruction
Come in, come out
The call was coming
From inside the house
Eye of destruction
Put your eyeballs back in
See all around you
See what there has been
Eye of destruction
Baby you can drive my hearse
I think what’s coming
Might just be much worse
Eye of destruction
Eye of the storm
Nothing has changed here
Just took a new form

Tall Jake
02:44
|
|||
Look a little closer
In the corner of your eye
He’s everywhere at once
Don’t even ask me why
He lurks there in the shadows
Down in the alleyway
He’ll always come and find you he’s
Tall, Tall Jake
He’s always watching you
He gets into your head
At night when you’re asleep
He watches by your bed
And then he disappears
He’s gone when you’re awake
You’ll never get a glimpse of
Tall, Tall Jake
You can fly to a foreign country
Take a boat or take a train
He’ll be right there waiting
And with you he’ll remain
He can be anywhere in the world
That’s what they all say
You can never run from
Tall, Tall Jake
Yes, he’ll keep on watching
Until the day you die
Maybe he’ll still be there
In your new home in the sky
Watching for eternity
You should know you can’t escape
You’ll never know the aims of
Tall, Tall Jake
Look a little closer
In the corner of your eye
He’s everywhere at once
Don’t even ask me why
He lurks there in the shadows
Down in the alleyway
He’ll always come and find you he’s
Tall, Tall Jake

Johnny and Rex
04:18
|

Got fed up with his life so he left to
Start his life anew
Grabbed his dog and ditched his family job and house
Headed west and out of view
With just the clothes and fur on their backs
Down the highway they flew
Stopped at a convenience store
Grabbed some dog food for two
Oh… Johnny and Rex
They ran out of cash so they started to
Plan their spree of crime
Have Rex attack and Johnny get the goods
They’d escape just in time
Across the land they hit place after place
Got all the stuff they could
But they got bad luck, got cornered by the cops
So they fled into the woods
Oh… Johnny and Rex
Running through the trees, then they found a
Pack of wild dogs
Had nowhere else to go, so they decided
With the dogs they’d go along
Now they run with the dogs, through the woods
Through the winter, spring and fall
Look from dogs to Rex to Johnny, and you can’t
Tell the difference at all
Oh… Johnny and Rex

Well Frank fled the angry mob all across the land. They would never let up. So Frank got an idea. He decided to fly to a distant land, far away from his past and his problems, and start a new life there, leaving everything behind.
What happens next? Well, we’ll see.

Bullet Blues

Well I woke up this morning, with a bullet in my head
I said I woke up this morning, with a bullet in my head
I don’t know who put it there but it sure did make my face red
Well last night I dreamed I was an action movie star
I said last night I dreamed I was an action movie star
My acting skills were lifelike and I’m sure my career will go far
Well my eyes are shot and my limbs are starting to feel numb
I said my eyes are shot and my limbs are starting to feel numb
I’m feeling kind of woozy and I’m pretty sure I’m losing lots of blood
Well I turned on the news and I couldn’t believe my eyes
I said I turned on the news and I couldn’t believe my eyes
The world is on fire but nothing’s ever gonna make me try
Well I went to see the doctor about curing my disease
I went to the doctor but he said there’s no disease
I’m sure I’ll get another one but for now I’m going off to sleep
Well I woke up this morning, with a bullet in my head
I said I woke up this morning, with a bullet in my head
I don’t know who put it there but it sure did make my face red

Wishing Well
02:16
|

I walked through the woods, I took all my cash
I took everything, I emptied out my stash
Yes I’m going to the wishing well
Gonna throw in my coins, can’t wait to hear the splash
Gonna make all my dreams come true, can’t you tell
When I throw my coin into the wishing well
I throw a coin
I throw in another
I throw in all my money one after another
I need more cash, why can’t you see
Why do all my wishes get away from me
I throw in a coin, close my eyes, make a wish
I wish for a car and a house and a kiss
Nothing’s come true yet, but I’m patient
I know that I can’t rush things like this
All my dreams are gonna come true, I yell
As I throw my coin into the wishing well
I throw a coin
I throw in another
I throw in all my money one after another
I need more cash, why can’t you see
Why do all my wishes get away from me
I wish for a sports car, the fastest one in the world, so I can look so cool everywhere I go
And I wish for True Love, it doesn’t matter who it is, I don’t care about that
And I wish for a private jet, and my own personal servant, and – oh no I’m falling in!
I threw in myself
I threw in all I’m worth
Now my body is lying down deep under the earth
I lost all I had, now there’s nothing more to see
Why did all my wishes get away from me

World of Voynich

I woke up this morning and everything felt... off, somehow. Like waking up in a new place, although as far as I could tell I was still in my own room. I looked at my clock and the numbers couldn’t seem to register in my mind, but something told me I was going to be late. I quickly got dressed and dashed outside.
Waiting for the bus, people passing by would glance at me then quickly look away and pick up their pace; I think they figured I wouldn’t notice. While on the bus, the route seemed unfamiliar, as if it was taking a detour through the same streets as always. I waited for my stop but it was never called as the bus just sped past. I resigned myself to my seat and turned up my music. The lyrics felt like a foreign language rendered entirely in English.
I closed my eyes and visions of a strange world flashed through my mind as the bus continued forward, empty, no longer stopping. Has something about the world around me changed? Or has something about me changed? Or was it always like this and I just never noticed until now?

Frank settled down in a distant land
He met a nice girl and he took her by the hand
His brand new life went just like he planned
But as the years went on it started to get bland
In his life of crime he bid the law adieu
He hit banks and malls and cars and zoos
He went to jail for a while, and when he got out he knew
He decided then what he must do
And so Frank went back, across the sea, to the town over by the bay, finally ready to meet his fate
And as he arrived, there they were, waiting for him. The angry mob, looking just as they had so many years ago
And as the torches and pitchforks descended on him, he looked up at the sky
It was a bright summer night.

Melancholy Beat

He wakes up every day and goes to work
He can’t see his thoughts through all the murk
When he gets home he goes straight to bed
You’ll never see anything out of his head
When he sleeps
He dreams of blue and red and green
He dreams of everything he’s left unseen
He dreams but he is woken up suddenly
He dreams that in the next life he’ll be free
